Missing Goat is a small family run blueberry farm that is in transition to organic certification through the Canadian Organic Standards. Our growing season runs mid July to mid September and we take orders on a first come first serve basis as early as June.
Myself, my husband, and my mother, purchased the farm eleven years ago. The farm was organic, and we continue to maintain these standards. We do not use herbicides or pesticides, and we fertilize organically. We began the organic certification process this spring. I developed a line of jams and chutneys last fall, and we thought it would be good to certify and have the symbol on our products for our customers.
Not too long ago, we cleaned up a patch of nettles and built a small shop by the field. This became our happy little store we call the Shabby Shack. Here you can buy Missing Goat jams, chutneys, and seasonal concoctions. New for 2010, is our fresh garlic and homemade delicious pies. We put in 7 beds of garlic this past fall, and are excited to offer this to our customers. We will also be selling granola.
Our little Shabby Shack just received a remodelling for this season. I worked as a magazine stylist and story producer while the farm was a summer hobby for us. Today, I still love working on the farm, producing stories, and making things look pretty too!
Leave the City and experience a day in the beautiful Country. We are open early June to late September; Fridays and Saturdays, 10am to 2pm. However, hours vary, so please call us ahead to confirm.
Come visit this summer! We look forward to seeing you on the farm.
