Planet Organic Market has deep roots in the Canadian natural food business. Starting as a single store in northern Alberta, Planet Organic has expanded into a forward-thinking national chain with locations in five provinces.
Conceived by co-founders Diane Shaskin and Mark Craft, it was always the love of good, healthy food that brought people together at Planet Organic. Friends meet and linger over the bulk bins, or join each other to attend various cooking classes. Each of the Planet Organic stores has become an important local meeting place in its neighbourhood.
“Over the years, customers have become my greatest teachers,” says Diane Shaskin, “By talking to them, I learned such things as how their childrens’ allergies had forced them to become savvier food shoppers. I met people whose cancer, arthritis and other ailments had moved them into the organic food movement.”
Planet Organic offers a wide variety of organic and natural food choices. Purchasing local wherever possible, the company sells only 100% organic produce.
